We live research
In the life sciences, everything revolves around living organisms and their direct and indirect research. This is how we define our industry as Life Science Research (LSR): Companies that enable research into life - true to the motto: We live research.
When the structures, functions and processes of living organisms are decoded, scientists make progress in the fields of medicine, agricultural technologies and environmental protection. And society benefits. LSR companies develop devices, reagents, test systems and consumables that are precisely tailored to the needs of scientists in basic and industrial research.
After research comes production
LSR's product portfolio and technologies are also used in diagnostic, biotechnological and pharmaceutical production. As a supplier of GMP-compliant products, we enable the production of innovative in-vitro diagnostics, vaccines and medicines. Industry-related productions benefit from our know-how and our technologies. Like technology suppliers in the mobility sector, we see ourselves as a technology supplier for production in the diagnostics, biotech and pharmaceutical industries. Similar to the catalytic converter for cars or the battery for e-mobility, the molecular genetic LSR technologies polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and mRNA synthesis are relevant for rapid diagnostics and promising vaccines.
Related technologies for different markets
The LSR specialist department (FA LSR) is a network within a network, as it is embedded in the VDGH. LSR membership is regulated by VDGH membership. The connection to the in-vitro diagnostics industry gives rise to new contacts and at the same time is characterized by the wealth of knowledge and exchange of experience between two industries. The IVD and LSR sectors offer related technologies for different markets. The integration of FA LSR into the VDGH offers the unique constellation of representing the entire value chain from basic research in the life sciences to the distribution of test kits for medical laboratories. Ultimately, all routine diagnostics technologies originate from life science research.
Our network - our committee work
As a political and economic lobby for its members, the specialist department is a discussion partner for organizations from industry, science and politics. It is a declared aim to raise public awareness of the term "Life Science Research" in order to sharpen the identity of the LSR sector and publicize its portfolio of developments and applications.
Officially, the specialist department is divided into the bodies of the General Assembly and the LSR Board elected from it. Intensive committee work is carried out in separate committees. Regular cooperation is an elementary component of our networking and is highly valued by our members.
