Working group: Market research

To better understand the German IVD market with data - that is the goal of the VDGH's market research working group in a nutshell. The tools available are unique. They enable both quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The working group meets four times a year and prepares the market estimate for the current year.

Representative market estimate

More than 30 member companies take part in the quarterly sales survey for the German IVD market. They cover over 80 percent of market activity. The experts of the Market Research Working Group supplement the survey with their specialist knowledge to produce a representative estimate of the overall market. This is also used for association policy analyses.

Precise data

The survey instrument, known as the CIP survey, is highly structured. It covers reagents and instruments, services/spare parts and supporting software. It looks right down to the individual analyte. The CIP survey thus provides the participating companies with unique and reliable information about the German IVD market.

Comparability

The market survey is based on the internationally used GIVD classification. AG Marktforschung is actively involved in the regular further development of this classification. In the corona pandemic, for example, a differentiated representation of sales for PCR-, antigen- and antibody-based test sales was achieved.

Data protection

Clear rules and decades of experience with the external data trustee ensure that data is handled confidentially. The individual company sees itself in comparison to the market as a whole; it is not possible to draw conclusions about other market participants.
