Joint press release Concept shows the way to a new biobank platform

A broad alliance of academic science and research-based industry wants to pave the way for a national "Biobank Platform for Germany". The Network of University Medicine (NUM) with the German Biobank Network (GBN), the pharmaceutical associations vfa and BPI, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the Association of the Diagnostics Industry (VDGH), the biotechnology industry association BIO Deutschland, German University Medicine and the TMF Technology and Methods Platform for Networked Medical Research have agreed on a comprehensive concept for this.

The Association of the Diagnostics Industry (VDGH) is a trade association representing the interests of more than 100 companies operating in Germany with a total turnover of 5.5 billion euros in 2024. They manufacture examination systems and reagents for the diagnosis of human diseases, which generate a turnover of more than 2.4 billion euros, as well as instruments, reagents, test systems and consumables for research in the life sciences, which generate a turnover of 3.1 billion euros.
