Statement of the VDGH on Simplification - digital package and omnibus of the EU Commission

In its second statement on the revision of the AI Act as part of the "Simplification - digital package and omnibus", the VDGH calls for a clear prioritization of AI-specific regulations within the existing legal framework for medical devices (IVDR/MDR).

The VDGH also advocates an exemption for commercially used AI in research from the scope of the AI Act. Only by removing non-essential regulatory obstacles can innovations benefit patients in a timely manner.
