Working group: Circular economy and new technologies

The industry faces the challenge of making its processes more environmentally friendly and resource-efficient. The working group is developing concepts on how the industry can be made recyclable. The aim is to meet both legal requirements and customer demands for sustainable products.

On the one hand, this working group is concerned with improving the circular economy in the diagnostics industry. To this end, a roadmap for the circular economy in the diagnostics industry is to be drawn up. As a result of the Green Deal, there are more and more or stricter laws that need to be followed and implemented. In addition, the demand from customers such as hospitals, but also private consumers, for recyclable products is increasing. On the other hand, the working group is to carry out screening in order to identify and, if necessary, establish sustainable materials and chemicals at an early stage, such as bioplastics or PFAS alternatives.

The following topics are to be dealt with in the working group:

  • Creating a circular economy roadmap for the diagnostics industry
  • Legislative work on the topic of the circular economy
  • Improvement of waste management
  • Screening new technologies
  • Working out customer requirements for products with regard to recyclability
  • Organization of workshops
  • Expansion of networks
