Statement of the VDGH On the draft bill for a law to strengthen nursing skills

The VDGH welcomes the fact that the proposed legislation to strengthen nursing skills is being taken up again in the new legislative period and is being driven forward swiftly.

The challenges facing acute and long-term care are rooted in demographic change - this statement made in the draft bill sums it up. All political and legislative measures must address this.

As demographic change is also putting pressure on the financing of social long-term care insurance in view of the expected decline in the potential workforce, the VDGH would like to see an even greater focus in the proposed legislation on where the use of modern technologies can increase the efficiency of care provision and thus ultimately reduce the burden on long-term care insurance funds. In particular, this addresses digital care applications, telecare and immediate patient-oriented diagnostics. This can optimize care in the home environment as well as in inpatient facilities.

In a nutshell: The Association of the Diagnostics Industry (VDGH)

As a trade association, the German Diagnostics Industry Association (VDGH) represents the interests of more than 100 companies operating in Germany with a total turnover of 5.4 billion euros in 2022. They manufacture examination systems and reagents for the diagnosis of human diseases, which generate a turnover of more than 2.3 billion euros, as well as instruments, reagents, test systems and consumables for research in the life sciences, which generate a turnover of 3.1 billion euros.
